Island Pond, VT

Many years ago, we discovered Island Pond and Brighton State Park. We had only ever camped there in October so it was a pleasant surprise to see the area in the middle of the summer. We had a great campsite - very private and quiet but near the boat launch and we spend quite a bit of time kayaking in Spectacle Pond (not Island Pond, which is next door and much bigger).
We saw a nesting pair of loons with baby. We must have gotten a bit too close because one of them put on a huge display with lots of wing flapping and water tossing. Very cool though.

We also went hiking (very buggy) and saw lots of cool flowers, frogs and mushrooms etc. No moose, unfortunately, but next time we are coming back with a car so that we can explore some of the back roads.
